Welcoming LINK’s New Board Chair Ken Johnson

The LINK Staff, Board of Directors, and community welcomes Kenneth Johnson as the incoming President and Chairman of our Board! Ken steps into this role after more than seven years on the Board, most recently serving as Vice Chair and chairing the Governance Committee. He has also participated as a LINK Mentor for many years, with a current Mentee in the LINK Class of 2023.

“LINK stands on the precipice of great things. Because of the leadership and innovative ideas of former Board Chairs like Jonathan Swain, Paul Crimmins, and Steve Hackney, we are in a great position to enhance and expand our services. With our new CEO, Dr. Toinette Gunn, our energized staff, supportive stakeholders, and last, but not least, our engaged Board, we will build upon LINK’s previous successes and enthusiastically take it to new heights.”

Ken Johnson

Professionally, Ken is co-founder and managing partner of Johnson, Blumberg & Associates, LLC, a minority-certified law firm that works in several practice areas throughout the Midwest. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and received his JD from the University of Iowa Law School.

Ken will be filling the sizable shoes of Stephen C. Hackney, LINK’s outgoing Board President and partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP. A huge thank you is owed to Steve for his leadership over the past few years, with highlights including LINK’s 2020 strategic plan adoption that set ambitious priorities into motion with the increased cohort sizes we’ve welcomed over the past two years.

“It has been a privilege to serve as Chairman of the Board of this terrific organization over the last four-and-a-half years. LINK is a special place with an important mission. I look forward to continuing to advance that mission in the years ahead and am confident the Board is in good hands with its new chair, my friend Ken Johnson.”
