Hello Scholars, Mentors, Families, and Members of the LINK Community,

I’m Dr. Toinette Gunn, your new LINK Unlimited Scholars President and Chief Executive Officer.

Words cannot adequately express how honored I am to join the LINK family.  I knew from a very young age that I wanted to make a difference, which led me to pursue an education and career that united my desires to help others and make the world a better place. In all aspects of my life, my passion for education, breaking negative intergenerational cycles of poverty, and bridging the opportunity gap for underrepresented and under-resourced youth has been prominent.  After 20+ years in the educational nonprofit sector, my focus on service and commitment to community impact has continued to grow. 

As a proud CPS graduate and first generation college student, I firmly believe in the transformative power of education. I also understand the value of having a support system to walk alongside Scholars and families as they navigate their educational journeys. 

For more than half a century, LINK has provided Black students across Chicago with the resources and tools needed to change their life trajectories and walk the path toward college graduation and beyond. The invaluable guidance and support provided by the LINK community results in Scholar success and lifelong bonds for many Scholar-Mentor pairings. The commitment to Scholar success is what makes LINK so incredible and what makes me so humbled to join this community.  I feel confident in my ability to expound upon and elevate the amazing work that LINK has already done. 

LINK’s history is rich and our future is even brighter.  Together, we will continue LINK’s mission of supporting Scholars as they move to and through college and beyond.
