A Little Word of Advice

Be the best Mentor to your LINK Scholar through the practice of “active listening.” High school students are at a critical stage of personal and academic development, and having someone who truly listens to them can make a significant impact. This means giving your Mentee your full attention, asking open-ended questions, and validating their feelings and experiences. By listening more than speaking, you create a safe space where they feel understood and supported, which can empower them to open up and seek guidance when needed.

Mentor Recruitment

We are still in need of Mentors for our Scholars, and we’re asking all of our Mentors to help us in our recruitment efforts. If each Mentor can refer three friends or colleagues, we will soon have a solid base of Mentors to support our Scholars. When you refer others to become LINK Mentors, let them know about the incredible lifelong impact they can have on our Scholars!

Interested friends can email [email protected] with any questions or to request more information, or they can complete the Mentor Application to officially begin the process!

Peer Mentoring

We launched LINKOne, our new Peer Mentor program—where High School junior and senior Scholars volunteer to mentor our incoming freshman Scholars—with a training on August 15. We want our adult Mentors to know about this program for two reasons: First, if your Scholar is a Peer Mentor, this will be an important topic for you to chat with them about, and secondly, if your Scholar is not a Peer Mentor, your knowledge of the program could spark them to inquire about it and apply to become one. Encourage your Scholar to lead by example and become a Peer Mentor!
