Mentor/Alumni Spotlight
This month, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on Jamere Walton, a LINK alum (Class of 2009) who has joined us once again—this time as a Mentor.
According to Jamere, being a LINK Scholar may be difficult in the beginning, but it’s worth the effort. “I would not have been able to attend St Rita of Cascia High School without the LINK program,” he said. “The rewards may take some time to reap, but just by simply participating, you’re already paving the path for your success.”
After high school, Jamere earned his bachelor’s degree at Illinois State University, graduating in 2013. Over the past nine years, he has been working as a real estate professional, where he enjoys using his negotiation skills and contract experience to win for his clients. He is also a self-published author with three books available on Amazon. Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Jamere currently lives in the Auburn Gresham community with his wife and son.
As for being a LINK Mentor, Jamere remarked, “I know how much it can help youth to have someone they can talk to while going through the ups and downs of high school—and life in general. They sometimes need someone they can talk to that is not directly their parents but also someone who has walked in their same shoes before.”
Thanks for investing in our Scholars, Jamere! We appreciate you!
