LINK Unlimited Mentor
Becoming a mentor isn’t difficult, but it does require a promise of time and financial support. A LINK mentor commits to:
Tutors
Volunteers are needed to provide one-to-one and group tutoring to LINK students in core subject areas – math, science, English, history, and foreign language. In addition to a focus on subject-specific tutoring, LINK’s tutoring program provides students with skills in developing effective study habits including note taking, test taking, organizational skills, time management, critical thinking, and reading comprehension. Tutors do not need to be trained educators, but must be competent in one or more subject area, passionate about working with youth, patient, and dedicated to helping students succeed in school. Tutoring runs from mid-September to mid-May, during 5-week block occurs during 5 weeks of each quarter on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6:30 pm. Training will be provided!
Workshop Presenters
LINK Unlimited provides enrichment opportunities for students in the areas of education, college readiness, leadership development, spiritual development, and mentoring. We are looking for skilled and professional volunteers to facilitate workshops for students on the following topics:

Career Speaker Series
In order to expose LINK Unlimited scholars to a variety of career industries and increase their knowledge of skills, education, and training required to enter various professions, LINK Unlimited will launch the Career Speaker Series in Fall 2010. We are seeking professionals in a variety of industries, including accounting, banking, law, medicine, engineering, IT, social services, education, etc. to participate in 1-hour monthly brown bag luncheons where career topics are discussed. Additionally, topics such as professional demeanor, oral and written communication skills, cross-cultural communication, etc. will be discussed.
Job Shadowing/Internship Opportunities
LINK Unlimited partners with industry-leading companies and organizations in order to provide meaningful internship and job shadowing opportunities to LINK Scholars. This partnership provides students with engaging, experiential learning opportunities to learn about various careers, workplace dynamics, and everyday business practices. Students are available to intern during winter breaks and in the summer.
LINK Associate Board
The LINK Associate Board is a group of emerging business and civic leaders. The group is committed to raising funding support and increasing the awareness and ongoing success of LINK through beneficiary events and volunteer programs. The Associate Board is pleased to entertain applications from new members that are passionate about supporting LINK’s mission and vision of civic responsibility. Once accepted, prospective members are encouraged to attend ALL board meetings, participate in the organization and planning of fundraising events and/or volunteer at the Annual Career Fair.
